
Mayor Robert Olmstead Jr.
Personal Description: My wife Babette and I are both life long residents and graduates of Shallowater. We have two sons, Zac and Mac. I enjoy spending time with my family and outdoor activities.
Goals as a councilman: My hope is to see Shallowater grow and prosper as a community, while maintaining that friendly "small town" attitude, which makes Shallowater a great place to live.
Description of Careers: I am a graduate of Texas Tech University, spent 25 years in retail and currently run my own business, Tile & More.
Councilman Keny Arnold
Personal Description: My family has been residents of the Shallowater area since 1914. My wife, Lynzi and I have resided in our current home since 1995. We have 3 children: Tory 39 or Runaway Bay, Staci 37 of Garland, and T.R. 35 of Lubbock. We also have three grandchildren. Lynzi and I are members of the First Methodist Church of Shallowater. I am also a member of the Lubbock County Historical Commission, Museum of modern Agriculture and Texas Tech Museum Association.
Goals as a councilman: My goals are to provide for the best community possible in the most efficient and economical manner possible. Preserving our heritage as an upstanding community and a city of which we can be proud.
Description of Careers: I am a graduate of Shallowater High School. I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Texas Tech University. I taught Vocational Agriculture at Shallowater High School from 1970 to 1974. I am a pilot and was involved in flying from 1974 to 1976. I was a City of Lubbock Professional Firefighter for 26 years 1976 until retirement 2002. I taught Fire Technology Courses for South Plains College. I have been a farmer/cattleman in the area since 1966 to the present. I also serve as a mediator for the Dispute Resolution Center of Lubbock.
Councilman Rodney Cates
Personal Description: My family and I have been residents of Shallowater since 1995. My wife, Randa, is a school teacher with the Shallowater Independent School District. We have two grown children that graduated from Shallowater High School.
Goals as a councilman: My goals are to provide the community with a great place to live and raise a family plus create opportunities for local businesses to grow and prosper.
Description of Careers: I received my BS degree from Lubbock Christian University and my Masters degree from Texas Tech University. I am currently the VP of Human Resources for Covenant Health System and have been with the organization for 11 years. Previously, I was the Director of Human Resources for Texas Instruments in Lubbock and Midland, Texas. I was with Texas Instruments for 19 years.
Councilman Norman Moore
Personal Description: I was raised in Shallowater and graduated from Shallowater High School in 1988. I left Shallowater shortly after that for service in the military. After the military I moved back to Shallowater with my family. I have 4 children who attend school in Shallowater. My wife is also a teacher with the Shallowater Independent School District. Our family attends 12th Street Church of Christ in Shallowater.
Goals as a councilman: My goals are to provide the community with a great place to live and raise a family plus create opportunities for local businesses to grow and prosper.
Description of Careers: I received my BSW degree from Lubbock Christian University and my Masters of Education degree from Wayland Baptist University.
Councilwoman Zandra Luttrell
City Attorney Nathan Ziegler
Description of Careers: Mr. Ziegler has represented the City of Shallowater since 2002. Mr. Ziegler formerly represented this part of the county (Precinct 4) on the County Commissioners Court. Currently, he is the managing partner of the Lubbock law firm Hard, Ziegler, and Trevino LLP.
